The first is my LOGOS page. I LOVE this verse from Isaiah 43:16. Brings tears to my eyes and gratitude to my heart. :) I started the page with printed tissue paper glued to the page with gel medium. I smeared watered down acrylics in light grey and cream all over the page. I drew on the heart and painted it. The black around the heart is from a watercolor crayon. I spattered grey, black, cream and red paints all over and then wrote my words with a white Gelly Roll pen.<br />

Week 2 was just an experiment for the background and then didn't know where I was going with it. I was in a red mood so, that is why red happened. ha! I think this was mostly gesso and watercolor crayons for the background, red acrylic paint, and doodles with a white Pitt pen and black pens.<br />

I decided that I wanted to try something different for my pages to unite them. Bernice Hopper from <a href="http://newlycreative.blogspot.co.uk/">Newly Creative</a> shared a technique that I wanted to try in which she cut the edges of the pages in her journal in waves causing the pages to be different widths. You may read her blog post about this technique <a href="http://newlycreative.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/playing_17.html">here</a>. I used various sizes of semi-circles drawn on my pages and then cut them out. I then prepped the pages with gesso and painted them all in similar ways using the same color combination.<br />
Week 1 was from January (you may see a couple of my January pages <a href="http://www.clayinthehands.blogspot.com/2015/03/his-kingdom-come.html">here</a>) with the theme of Transformed by the Renewing of My Mind. The ways I am to be transformed are Willingly, Vulnerably, Submissively, Faithfully and Purposefully. I painted various plants to decorate my page with the thought that plants start out as a seed and are transformed to become a beautiful plant.<br />

Week 4 was a review of the lessons from April. I had no ideas of what to do on this page so I just started painting circles with rings so they had outward rings and and inward rings to go with the scripture I chose.<br />

Week 2: The Promise of Forgiveness - Matthew 6:14-15 tells us <i>“If you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father
will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your
Father will not forgive your sins.” </i>Which is a little bit scary if you think about it. Kind of like when you are judging others and remember that "the same measure you used will be used for you". Sometimes forgiving others is quite hard and you have to keep handing it over to God and reminding yourself that you have forgiven. Sometimes I wish that when I forgive someone that I could forget the offense as well. For this I gessoed the pages then rolled on acrylic paints in several shades of blue and purple and wrote out "forgiveness" with a navy blue Sharpie. I printed out the words I wanted to include on the pages and then cut them out and pasted them down. Then I decided that a little decoration was needed so I drew flowers and leaves with markers. <br />

Week 3: The Promise of Wisdom - James 1:5 reads: <i>“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously
to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” </i>What a wonderful promise that we need to use everyday....sometimes every moment of everyday! I had to use an owl on my page...I love owls and whether they are or not, they seem so wise. This page was done with watercolor crayons, gesso and a gold paint pen. (I don't remember what brand, I got two from the clearance isle at Hobby Lobby) I LOVE the clearance isle!<br />

Week 4: The Promise of the Holy Spirit - I LOVE this promise SO much! I can't do this life alone and the wonderful thing is - I DON'T HAVE TO! I used John 14:26 which tell us <i>“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my
name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have
said to you”. </i>I need reminded - often! And He is so faithful to do so! I need taught and I am often amazed in the ways He teaches me. I need comforted and I am so very comforted with the knowledge that He is always with me and He helps me continuously. (and I even pay attention sometimes) This page was influenced by ErinLeigh at Art by <a href="http://artbyerinleigh.blogspot.com/2015/09/fri-faith-art-friday-week-1.html">ErinLeigh's Faith Art Friday</a>. I used Gelatos, gesso and black ink with a paint brush....and my words actually came out almost the way I wanted them to! WooHoo!<br />

For my Logos 365 LOVE page I wanted to remind myself that "My mouth speaks from that which fills my heart." If my heart is filled with love and goodness then love and goodness will be what comes out of my mouth. Not happy with my writing on this. I tried to be ummm....more free with my hand rather than concentrating to make my writing legible, it wasn't a good idea. The idea for the page came from a picture I pinned on Pinterest and not from my head.<br />

I finished my August journal pages just a bit over a week behind. :) The theme for the August Take Me Deeper study is thankfulness. The focus scripture for the month's studies was Philippians 4:4-9 <i>“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!</i><i> </i><i>Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.</i><i> </i><i>Do not be anxious about anything,</i><i> </i><i>but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.</i><i> </i><i>And the peace of God,</i><i> </i><i>which transcends all understanding,</i><i> </i><i>will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.</i><br />
<i>Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is
noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever
is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such

Week 1: <u>Thankful For All Things</u> I used verse 6 for my text. For the page in my journal, I did a collage of scrapbook papers with some watered down paint over the top to try to make it all come together. I didn't like how it was looking but decided that I would just keep on going. I wrote the scripture on the page and doodled a little. I'm still not thrilled with the page, but that is okay. Everything is a learning experience and I can be thankful for the journey.<br />

Week 2: <u>Think About Such Things</u> I used the WHATEVER IS scripture....one of my favorites that I try to keep in mind. My attitude is SO much better when I control my thoughts and think about good things. For this page I printed the scripture on a transparency sheet and taped it to the right side of my journal page. You cannot tell that it is a transparency in the photo, you just have to take my word for it. ;) It is a different technique and I may use it again someday. I used my usual gesso/watercolor crayons for page prep and decorating.<br />

<i> </i>Week 3: <u>Put It Into Practice</u> For this page I used Philippians 4:9a as my scripture. You need to practice doing what you want to perfect. With anything it takes practice to get better at something. A concert pianist still practices hours everyday so she will always do her best. I want to do my best living for Jesus....so I need to practice the things I have learned so that when the time comes "my actions will reflect my beliefs". For this page I used gesso and watercolor crayons and Gelatos. I cut the word "whatever" out of a paper that I painted some time ago - for such a time as this. The mirror I had in my stash of magazine clippings.<br />

<i> </i>Week 4:<u> Peace of God - God of Peace </u> This is my favorite page for August. I just knew what I wanted to do and it came out pretty much how I had it in my mind. The scripture that I used for this page is Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." sigh..... When I give everything over to God and I practice gratitude in every situation, when I practice taking captive every thought and wrestle them to focus on "whatever is true, noble, right, lovely, pure admirable, excellent<u></u> or praiseworthy....THEN my actions will reflect my beliefs and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. And that, my friends, is what I want! This page was done with gesso, watercolor crayons and a gold paint pen....and it makes me happy. :)<br />

I'm not sure how that happened? Anyway, I finally finished up my July art journal pages so I can now share them as a whole. July's theme was Honor with the theme scripture being found in Revelation 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord our God to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being."<br />

Week 1: Dependance vs. Independence - As a Christian one of my goals is to be totally dependent on God which is a whole lot easier said than done. I have been quite independent since I was quite young. I can remember telling my Mama many times that I will do it myself and usually she would let me with her standing by to make sure I did what needed to be done. The suggested scripture reading included Matthew 18:2-4 "<span class="text Matt-18-2" id="en-NIV-23730">He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.</span> <span class="text Matt-18-3" id="en-NIV-23731"><sup class="versenum"> </sup>And he said: <span class="woj">“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.</span></span> <span class="text Matt-18-4" id="en-NIV-23732"><span class="woj"><sup class="versenum"> </sup>Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." And Psalm 131:1-2 "</span></span><br />

Week 3: Honor God - The scripture that I meditated on the most for this lesson is from 1 Corinthians 10:31 which tells us, <b>"<i>So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God</i>.” </b>Bernice (the lesson author for July) asked the question, "How is God honored?" and then shared these five ways: He is honored when we welcome Him, when we worship Him, when we trust Him, when we give him our tithes and offerings, and to be kind to the poor or those in need, and I added to be loving because that is what I am working on this year. Week 4: Honor Others - This week we studied the scriptures that tell us that we are individual parts of a body and we should honor each other as an important part of that whole no matter our preconceived notions of someone's importance. The nursery worker is just as important to the body as the evangelist. Romans 12:3-5 "<span class="text Rom-12-3"><sup class="versenum"> </sup>For by the grace given me
I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than
you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in
accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.</span> <span class="text Rom-12-4" id="en-NIV-28250">For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,</span> <span class="text Rom-12-5" id="en-NIV-28251">so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." and 1 Corinthians 12:21-26 "</span><span class="text 1Cor-12-21" id="en-NIV-28656">The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”</span> <span class="text 1Cor-12-22" id="en-NIV-28657"><sup class="versenum"> </sup>On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,</span> <span class="text 1Cor-12-23" id="en-NIV-28658"><sup class="versenum"> </sup>and
the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor.
And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,</span> <span class="text 1Cor-12-24" id="en-NIV-28659"><sup class="versenum"> </sup>while
our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the
body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,</span> <span class="text 1Cor-12-25" id="en-NIV-28660"><sup class="versenum"> </sup>so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.</span> <span class="text 1Cor-12-26" id="en-NIV-28661"><sup class="versenum"> </sup>If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it." On this page I used the tutorial from the Journaling By Heart study, it worked so well with the Take Me Deeper study that I didn't change much at all. </span>This is done with a background of several colors painted on randomly
then stamped and stenciled with contrasting colors. I just happened to
have foam stamps of grapes and grape leaves so I decided to use them.
The border, words and any outlining was done with Pitt markers.<br />

Week 5: Honor Ourselves - The scripture for week 5's study is “<i>Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who
is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you
were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies</i>.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Which pretty much says it all. My background was created with Dyan Reaveley's paints. I dabbed on green, blue and yellow for the first layer then stenciled with a flower design and pink for the next layer. I added spatters of black and white. For the final layer, I made a silhouette stencil as well as a couple of different shapes to make my words stand apart from my very busy background and used watered down gesso so that the pattern would show through. I outlined, shaddowed and added floral touches with my Pitt pens. The words were written with a variety of pens....because my pens kept dying on me.</div>

I need to ask myself how am I doing with the commitments I have made for myself to achieve this year. Some not too bad, and some not good at all. My "word" for 2015 LOGOS365 is LOVE. I still need to work on that one...and I do know that this is a life long thing to grow into. I do strive to change my thinking and attitude on a daily basis of how love looks and what love does in me and through me. My Love page for June is just a cute fun page with a simple, but deep message for me to remember. "put on LOVE which is the perfect bond of unity" taken from Colossians 3:14. <br />

June's theme was Family. The first week started at the beginning...as in Genesis. God created man in His image. He created the first family. One of the things that I have been striving to remember while growing in love this year is that each person (whether they accept it or not) is an Image bearer. This page in my art journal is collaged with faces and the words, "God created man in His image." and "Each one an Image bearer." I want to get to the point that my first reaction when meeting a person is one of recognizing that this person is an Image bearer and one whom Jesus died for, not a preconceived notion or a reaction to what that person might have done or not done.<br />

Week 2 was the Family that is God or the Trinity. We learned that God has always been a relationship within the godhead. I used a Celtic trinity symbol and words from the song "I Believe" for my journal page with the colors of purple and gold.<br />

The third week in June our study was about God being our Father. The scripture I used to help me remember this lesson is Psalm 103:11-14. One of my favorite Psalms. I used Gelatos, gesso and a flower stencil for this page with a few extra flowers for fun.<br />

And lastly, week 4 we studied about the family that we are in as part of God's Kingdom...the church. Here lately, the church in general seems to get some bad publicity. Some is actually earned from the way some act toward others, and some comes from an agenda that seems to want to put a one size fits all label on us. Often I don't want to claim some groups that call themselves "Christian" as family, that is not what the verse I used is telling me....each member belongs to all the others. I used gesso and watercolor crayons to made multicolored circles on cardstock and glued on to a tree to symbolize one body with many parts all belonging to one another. <br />

The theme for May devotions/journal prompts was Sanctuary. TMD May Week 1: I was caught up in the scriptures about sheltering
under God's wing. What a comfort and peace these are to me. I used Psalm
91:1-4 on my page "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will
rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my
refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust." Surely He sill save
you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will
cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will fin<span class="text_exposed_show">d
refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." Life can be
so busy with many demands on our time and energy, I need to remember
what I learn in Isaiah 30: 15 that "In repentance and rest is your
salvation, In quietness and trust is your strength..." Jesus often
sought a quiet place for rest and renewal, I need to remember to do the
same. I cut feathers from the pages of an old book and used my new
watercolor crayons by Staedtler on them. The background is Gelatos and
gesso. I used matte gel medium to adhere the feathers to my page and
wrote the words with various black pens.</span><br />

Week 3: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. This week the lesson was about taking care of yourself/loving yourself, for how can you love others as you love yourself if you don't really love yourself. It included several links to personality tests and spiritual gift tests. I just wrote some results from the tests/surveys I took. Nothing surprising as I usually have pretty much the same results. Very simple page with colorful background and just words. <br />

Week 4: Rhythms of Grace. I had in mind a 4 seasons tree when I studied this lesson. I think each day has its season/rhythm and each part is important, you wake to a fresh new day/spring, you are productive through the day and gradually slowing down toward evening, and end with rest/winter. I found a quote that I love by Margaret Feinberg, "Sabbath isn't about what is done or left undone as much as breathing in the goodness of God. :) This page is done with gesso, gelatos, watercolor crayons and acrylic paints. Week 5: Rhythms of Grace 2: I had such a mind block for this week, I'm not sure why. One of the main scriptures cut me to the quick: Jeremiah 2:13 "My people have committed two sins: they have forsaken Me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water." I did a study a few years ago on recognizing idols in our lives, although this verse isn't one that was used in that study it exposes the same sin... putting something above God. When anything comes before God in our lives it is an idol, even yourself and your trust in your own ability to provide anything for yourself. One of the Beatitudes is "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." When we thirst for things that are not from God, we are dealing with making an idol of something that is a very poor trade off of the true thing. This page is done with gesso, watercolor crayons, gell medium, markers and a print made with a gelli plate. Notice the empty cistern at the bottom of the page.<br />

I love Spring when nature wakes up and sends out green shoots where there was only sleeping brown. I love the green, the flowers the perfumed air (although the pollen pays havoc with my nose). So lovely in many ways. I try hard to enjoy spring even though I know that the heat and humidity of summer is quickly approaching. Summer is my least favorite season!!!<br />

My April calendar and Logos365 LOVE page were just kind of haphazardly done. I am not proud of that, but sometimes I need to get something done to get to the next thing, ya know? So I just smudged Gelatos on the pages and smeared it around with a wet wipe. Drew on my lines/words and then colored the LOVE page with Koi Watercolor Markers. I have a terrible time with paint getting on the back of the page I am working on....so they often get messy looking. I haven't quite figured out what to do about that. I always put paper under the pages I am working on. I will keep trying to find the best way to do this.<br />

I had trouble with an image for the first week of April. I don't know why but all I could think of that I wanted to do was flowers....so I went with flowers and Romans 6:4. I coated the page with gesso, sanded it smooth and then painted with Twinkling H2Os. Wrote the words with a black pen and used a white Sharpie paint pen to outline the flowers and doodle vines. I struggle to write in the fold of the page, so the writing isn't as neat as I wanted. I am thinking that this would be much easier on single pages rather than in a bound journal.<br />

TMD April week 2: To begin this page I revisited the first lesson in Shonna Bucaroff's
<a href="http://www.his-kingdom-come.com/groups/kingdom-come"> His Kingdom Come Workshop</a> with the masked off cross on the page that
had been painted and stamped. I used the scriptures Galatians 2:20 and
Ephesians 2:4-5...although I now see that I have the wrong reference for
the Ephesians passage. I will have to figure out how to correct that. I added some flowers and dragonflies that I cut from an old art
magazine, mainly because I wanted something more on the pages, and
because of all the beautiful Magnolia trees that were in bloom the week I
was working on it....and dragonflies, um...just because. hehe...<br />

TMD April week 3: Power for Living! I love, love, love!!! the Ephesians
3:14-21 prayer. I have prayed this often for myself and for others, and I
pray it for you. I am re-memorizing this so that I can pray it from
memory.<br />
I thinned down gesso and coated the pages, let it dry and
sanded it pretty smooth. I watercolored a floral-ish background in soft
colors (Koi Watercolors) and then added my words. I had a terrible time
getting rid of my pencil marks, and some letters smeared here and
there, but the scripture is what I wanted to shine.<br />

April week 4: A Living Hope For this page I just wanted to see how my
Twinkling h2o watercolor paints would do on the plain paper of my art
journal. It is quite different than on a gessoed page and of course

I sketched on flowers and leaves and just painted them. For the

have been putting masking tape down the center of the pages in my
journal so that watery paint doesn't find itself on pages it isn't
suppose to be on. Ungessoed tape doesn't accept paint very well. lesson

I make short notes from Sunday sermons
and a note on what the TMD lesson is about each week. I have been
sending love cards to two people each week as part of the doing of my
Logos365 word LOVE. The second side is my March LOVE art. Just a
note...the backgrounds of these two pages was an experiment using gel
medium with Gelatos. I love how it worked! :)<br />

First week in March page. This has several layers because I was playing
with different stuff and experimenting. Oil pastels on the bottom layer,
just cause I wanted to see what would happen. Each layer (step) added
and the picture emerged until I was happy with it. I struggle with
denying myself and taking up my cross daily....I needed this page to
help me remember that each step is a step closer to the finish. In our
Sunday Evening Bible study we are studying Philippians. <span class="text_exposed_show">Our
preacher said something that I appreciated so much. He said that we are
all "running our race" at different speeds. We shouldn't be worried
about where we are or how fast we are running compared to someone else.
We need to be encouraging (be a cheerleader) to the ones behind and be
encouraged by the ones ahead. Phil. 3:16 "Only let us live up to what we
have already attained." I need to do this step well and then take the
next one....following Him, step by step.</span><br />

<span class="text_exposed_show"> Take My Hand was the topic of week 2's study. </span>Precious Lord, take my hand... I love this song and it kept going
through my head as I was thinking about this lesson. I started out drawing
the hands on the blank page, I painted on a light layer of gesso and
sanded it smooth after it dried. I used Twinkling H2Os and just put on
washes over the page. added the the coppery splotches and drew
flowers. I just wanted the words of the song, so I printed them out,
added a light watercolor wash to the paper, cut them out and glued them
on. (*note to self....make sure ink is completely dried or it will smear when you put gel medium over it as a sealer.)<br />

TMD March week 3 - Nothing But the Blood. When I was studying the
scriptures for this week I got to Hebrews 9: 11-15 and kept thinking
about verse 12 "He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and
calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own
blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. " The Message says "...using
his own blood as the price to set us free once and for all." I thought
of people....all people that he bled and died for. I started by c<span class="text_exposed_show">ollaging
faces onto my journal page. I lightly smeared texture medium on the
page with a card to "mess it up" a bit, and when dried I dripped red acrylic paint down the
pages. I then collaged the words of Isaiah 53:5 on top of the paint and
faces. I also wrote "Nothing but the blood" across the top using Sharpie
water paint pens in black and white, and wrote "once and for all"
"without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness" and "bought with
the precious blood of Jesus" in various places in white.</span></div>

TMD March week 4 - Walk Through the Wilderness. At the first glance this page has nothing to do with the week's title, but the journey it took to get to this page was definitely a walk through at least a little part of wilderness. It took me over a week before I came up with how to convey what I was learning. I started reading a book called <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Last-Week-Marcus-J-Borg-ebook/dp/B000FCKRGA/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1428587957&sr=1-1&keywords=The+Last+Week"><i>The Last Week</i></a> by Borg and Crossan, as part of my Lenten journey. In it I was struck by the Fig Tree/Temple Incident part of the Monday Chapter. In the book the authors write that in the book of Mark, Mark frames an incident with an incident that defines it...as in: the tree is seen, found wanting and cursed/the incident in the temple/the tree is found withered. The tree incident had weighed on my mind for some time. You know...how something keeps coming up and you chew on it for a while and then it kind of backs off then it is there again and you know there is something you are suppose to be getting and you're not? When I read this book and they added the temple incident to the fig tree incident it all clicked. I had always <i>somewhat</i> got the tree...it was giving the appearance of being fruitful. I just kind of got the impression that Jesus was tired and a bit grumpy and took it out on that poor tree. BUT! when you take it as a definition (or parable) of the temple incident, you can understand both. They were both giving an appearance of something they weren't - fruitful! OH MY! So I kept asking myself "DO I produce fruit or am I just pretending to be fruitful? Still on the journey in the wilderness with that one. This page is pretty simple in that it is drawn with markers and painted with acrylics with printed text glued on.</div>

Love is also my Logos 365 word for the year so there was a lot of love on my pages. The first one is my calendar and logos page for the month. The logos page has a definition of love from a sermon. "Love is a decision of the mind to meet the needs of others for their good, whether they accept or appreciate it or not." So often I have not acted loving toward someone when I knew that they wouldn't appreciate my efforts. You love to love, not for a "reward". <br />

The first week our study was about God's love and used John 3:16 as the focus verse. I collaged a world, a heart and a cross with the scripture on the top. On the other side of the page I used the words to one of my favorite songs to sing to myself, "How He Loves".<br />

Week 2 was about loving God. Love the Lord your God with all of you...heart, soul, mind, and strength. I played with Gelatos a bit for the background, then I wrote the words of the verse on cardstock, painted and collaged them on the page and doodled around the words. The girl had some problems and I ended up having to repaint her face about 3 times. The first one was the best, but I'm learning how different mediums work with others and some don't work together. Hopefully I can remember the lessons I learned from this page<br />

Week 3 was about loving yourself. I kind of struggled with this one, not because I have trouble loving myself, but because I think that sometimes too much emphasis is put on self. I went with becoming a new creation when we are in Christ because He makes all things new. I used a butterfly because of the metamorphosis of its life symbolizes a complete change. <br />

Week 4 was on loving others and is definitely something I am working on this year. I made the most important thing to be the center of the page because I really can't do this love thing on my own, I have to love God and rely on His strength to Love others. I used expanding lines to show how love should grow exponentially. This page isn't finished as I will keep adding names around the heart.<br />

I really love the idea of multi-medium art and this workshop not only offered lessons in different mediums but was also a Bible study. :) A win-win....and it was free at the time. I enjoyed the whole process very much. Then in November I joined an Advent group and altered a book into an Advent art journal using a lot of what I had learned in the previous workshop as well as some things I gleaned from Youtube videos. Gotta love the generous artists who put tutorials on Youtube! The Kingdom Come workshop creator Shonna from <a href="http://twistedfigures.blogspot.com/">Twisted Figures</a> got together with the ladies who offered the Advent studies Diane Marra from <a href="http://dianemarra.typepad.com/adore_him/">Adore Him Creations</a> and Bernice Hopper from <a href="http://newlycreative.blogspot.co.uk/">Newly Creative</a> and a few other artist started a Christian artist community called His Kingdom Come. (If you are interested in learning more, you may click the "I'm a member of His Kingdom Come" button on the right) In this community are different medium groups that a person may participate in. I am doing the year long Take Me Deeper Bible study/journal prompt group as well as I have a word that I am focusing on for 2015 in the Logos365 group. My word is LOVE. I hope to not only create meaningful art (at least to me) throughout the year, but truly dig deeper and go deeper in my spiritual life. Some of the pages I have done so far I have been pleased with and some - well not so much, but that is the learning process. The following two pages are my favorite ones for the month of January. The first one is all about the grace, about the grace... Actually the theme for the week was Transform Vulnerably.<br />

I have been playing with some art journaling, water colors, and mixed medium pieces. I have been having a lot of fun experimenting and having great fun! The thing that I have the most problem with is getting myself to stop playing before I go too far and I am not happy with the result of something. But that is all part of playing and experimenting - to get to know how things look. I scanned this water-colored pen doodle.<br />

I was pretty happy with it as is...but, I love spattered things. I used to do some wood finishing and I loved to spatter specks of varnish on some pieces to give a bit of depth and ummmm grunge. So I spattered.<br />

I am not so happy with the result, and it cannot be removed. What I used is a mixture of a brown color (I can't remember the name of the color right now) of Twinkling H2Os mixed with water and put into a spritz bottle. It makes such a fine mist and I just don't really like the look of the hundreds of specks....I like the look of spatters. SO...I now know that I would much rather spatter with a paint brush than spritz. <br />

I spritzed this piece...and although I do like the way it turned out, I would have liked it better with spatters.<br />

My last post was the end of December....and now it is almost the middle of June! I'm still not doing much creating, at least in clay. All areas of life have opportunities to be creative. So my shop remains asleep and I have no idea whether it will wake up or not, but I'm not going to worry about it. I haven't participated in the Creative Everyday Challenge...(well, because see above) The Dee Brestin book, Idol Lies was great and spiritually I am doing well. Our minister asked me the other day how I was doing and I said: "Actually....I am doing well!" And I have lost 15 pounds, almost without trying. I changed doctors which led to a change in high blood pressure meds, I got sick with a summer cold/flu? and didn't feel like eating for about two weeks, I started a second job that is physically demanding and is also during the evening hours. All in that order. I thought that my jeans were getting baggy so I got on the scale and had lost 15 pounds in less than a month. Wow! And the exercise part...well, the new job is physical and I have been mowing the grass. Mowing is NOT my favorite job, but Danny just can't do it. I mow awhile, rest, mow, rest, mow, rest...and finally I am done. Oh, and our yard isn't very large. I am trying to get it down to just two rotations of mow and rest. <br />

I have come to the conclusion that I am stuck in some bad habits and I need to get unstuck from them and get my feet firmly planted in some new and good things. I have struggled with creating for my shop this year, so as of now it is empty and will sit in limbo for a time. I have decided to participate in <a href="http://creativeeveryday.com/">Creative Every Day Challenge</a> and see if I can refresh my creativity. I will try to do regular posts showing what happens. My daughter bought Dee Brestin's book <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009DW0POM/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B009DW0POM&linkCode=as2&tag=worthpubli-20">Idol Lies</a> . Dee has put a free study guide and lesson videos on her site <a href="http://worthypublishing.com/books/Idol-Lies/videos">HERE</a>. How generous is that? I was so sure that I don't struggle with idol worship in my life, but HA! after watching the first video... I do believe I have fooled myself. I am going to join Jessica and see what idols I have that need to be slain. The other bad habits I have acquired lie mainly in the physical part of my being. Ummm, pretty much the usual New Year's Resolutions of 1. lose weight and 2. exercise. So although I will probably not say much here about this last part, I feel maybe I may stick to it a bit stronger if I put it in writing. I want to lose around 25 pounds and get back into the walking that I have so easily ignored for months. <br />

Somehow we ended up with all cherry tomato plants this year and they are all producing abundantly. So I have been making all my favorite summer fresh tomato dishes all with cherry tomatoes. <br />

I can tell you what is in it, but I really have no idea what the measurements are, and I don't really think it makes much difference on a dish like this. It contains: Chopped cherry tomatoes, about a half the bowlful, I tossed in a part of an onion and three kinds of peppers (one being a jalapeno) chopped and a finely diced large clove of garlic , also chopped and added about a half of a yellow squash and maybe a cup and a half of black beans and the kernels off of two cooked ears of corn, I squeezed in the juice of one lime, drizzled olive oil over the top and seasoned with freshly ground pepper and sea salt then added a generous palmful of cumin. All seasonings to taste. It is chilling out in the fridge just waiting to have some cold cooked chopped chicken added just before we eat it with tortilla chips.<br />
